This course.
After completing the B1 Intermediate-B1 Upper course you are able to manage yourself in most everyday-life situations in The Netherlands.
There are 21 classes with subjects that differ from learning about the Dutch economy to what to expect when you visit a doctor. Furthermore you will learn many strategies to communicate cohesively and accurately. You will learn more and new ways to express yourself in all areas of Dutch society. The subjects you study are always practical and useful for you in your everyday life and work. After this course your speaking, reading and writing skills are really stronger and this helps you to feel more at home in The Netherlands.
Your classes.
During your classes, you will get practical instructions and you will work in small groups, in pairs or with your teacher on assignments and your homework. You will develop your speaking, reading, writing and listening until complete B1-level.
The teachers.
Our teachers are always experienced and trained professionals. They understand your individual learning needs and style and they motivate and guide you in the learning process. Their aim is to teach you all the practical Dutch language skills you need to live and work in The Netherlands. There is an open and friendly atmosphere in all our classes and students work together under close supervision from the teacher.
The result.
After completing the B1-Upper course you can:

You can understand the main points of clear standard speech. Also the main point of many radio or TV programmes when the delivery is relatively slow and clear. | You can understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language. You can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in writing. | You can deal with most situations while you are travelling. You can enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. | You can write simple connected texts on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. You can write about personal experiences and impressions. |
Practical Information.
We teach using the Delft Method books where all the new words you will learn are translated into 27 languages. You can study easily without any previous knowledge of Dutch.
To improve the most, you will have to do at least 4-6 hours of homework per week. The teacher will monitor your progress and discusses this with you.
- Duration: 8 weeks/16 classes of 1.5 hours/two times per week.
- Group size: maximum 6 students
- Study load: Chapter 21-42 from the book “Tweede ronde” from Boom publishers.

Certificate
All students that have attended at least 80% of the classes will receive a certificate.
